Dear Fathers, Brothers and Sisters, Greetings to you all from Nagpur for a Very Happy Easter! May the Risen Lord be Source of our life and Destiny. The very foundation of our Christian life is the faith in the Risen Lord. I do hope you have wonderful Holy week and Easter Celebrations.
Blessing of houses during Easter Season has to be a pastoral priority of the Clergy. I exhort all the Priests In-charge of pastoral duty, to involve the SCCs and other lay leaders for organized and meaningful blessing of the houses and without much delay, to the satisfaction of our faithful and institutions.
Celebration of the Year of the Priest of our Archdiocese was meaningfully done on 25th-26th March. Almost all the Priests of the Archdiocese participated in the seminar conducted on the subject of the re-visioning of Priestly life in the changed times. The scholarly talks of Rev. Fr. Francis Scaria of Bhopal Archdiocese were very relevant and he elicited reflections from the participants. The Chrism Mass on 25th was a beautiful experience of Unum Presbyterium. My sincere thanks to the Organizing Team of these events.
Missionary Meeting on 21st and 22nd of April, the 3rd of its type will be held at the Archbishops House will culminate with Ordinations for the Archdiocese. The Theme of this year’s joint reflection is Youth and the theme for our missionary meeting will be WITNESSING YOUTH IN EVANGELIZING. Youth was also the theme of the recent assembly of the Catholic Council of India held at Nagpur and the General Body Meeting of CBCI held at Guwahati. Participants for this missionary meeting will be: all the members of Priests’ Council, Provincials of woman Congregation of the city and apart from this all the Parish Priests of the Archdiocese with one youth (boy or girl) and one lay representative of the parish, head of every institution in the Archdiocese. Mr. Dony Peter a dynamic youth from Bangalore will activate the session. Please send the names of the participants at the earliest to make the needed arrangements: to Fr. Ignatius (09373214564) or Fr. Robert (09420187149). The programme will start on 21st April at 10.00 a.m. and will run through 22nd till 4.00 p.m. The committee assigned for this is preparing the details of the programme.
Priestly Ordinations: This year we are blessed with 3 new Priests; Bros. Prashant Samuel, Vikas Joseph and Kashmir Toppo will be ordained Priests by me on April 22nd at 5.30 p.m. in S.F.S. Cathedral Grounds. This year being the Year of the Priest special importance will be given for more youth from our parishes to participate in the Ordination. Among the three to be ordained Prashant hails from Barkui Mission and Vikas is from Untkhana Parish both of our Archdiocese while Kashmir hails from Kusumdegi in Jharkhand. While congratulating them and wishing them successful years of ministry in the Lord’s vineyard let us pray that they be always faithful to Jesus who has called them to Ministerial Priesthood.
The revised Congura for Priests (Monthly allowance travel and holidays allowance etc.) will be effective from 1st April 2010 the new financial year. All those in charges of Parishes and Institutions are asked to follow the new guidelines. Diocesan Priests will kindly return the duly signed documents at the earliest.
