“There is no use in walking anywhere to preach if your walking isn't your preaching” - St. Francis of Assisi Dear Fathers, Brothers and Sisters,
Greetings from Nagpur! Our Schools have produced good results, and I congratulate all of you for the same. We are about to start a new academic year with lots of anxiety and worries. There are many stringent laws and rules at the Central and State Government levels in the offing that will make us more watchful. We need to look around, learn and respect the laws, be watchful! However let us be comforted with the words of Jesus: “Do not be afraid I am with you always”.
In this context I would like to remind you that our Commitment to educate the less privileged, girl children with particular emphasis for Catholic should always be upheld. No Catholic child should be debarred from admission to our schools. If Catholic children are poor, and slow in study they must be helped by way of financial assistance and coaching classes. The mind set of 100% result in our institution has to be replaced with education for all, especially poor. I must also add here, that Catholics should be given preference in the available jobs in our Institutions.
I will be away from the Archdiocese from 23rd June to 14th August 2010, attending a Refresher Course for Bishops and others in governance for long time, at St. Anselm’s Institute, Kent, U.K. I feel such a course will be useful for me, being so long in hectic activity. Please pray for me. In my absence Rev. Fr. Jerome Pinto, the Vicar General will be in charge of the Archdiocese.
St. Antony’s Parish Ajni is celebrating Platinum Jubilee this year. The main celebration is centered on the Feast of St. Antony, on 13th June 2010. We place on record our deep appreciation of the services rendered by good old missionaries, and their collaborators. We congratulate the parish on this special occasion, and assure our prayers to the preset Parish Priest, his Assistants and other collaborators for successful celebrations of the jubilee.
As you know some of us attended a seminar on Paradigm shift of Priesthood today, in Bangkok. It was a very good and useful one, a time of reflection, time for re-dedication to the great joy of being a Priest and a time of rest in the beautiful University campus.
We have a New Nuncio in the person of His Excellency Salvatore Pennachhio the present Nuncio of Thailand. We welcome the New Nuncio to our great country and the church of India. Five scholastics of our Archdiocese studying in St. Charles’ Seminary will be Ordained Deacons on Saturday 12th June at SFS Cathedral. Two more from Ashta Seminary will also be ordained Deacons during the course of this year. Let us thank the Lord for these gifts, and pray for them.
As the Year of Priests comes to an end on 19th of June, we will have a thanksgiving Mass to mark the ceremonial end on Sunday 20th June at 6.15 pm in SFS Cathedral. Even though the year of Priest ends now, I would greatly appreciate that the Prayer for Priests be recited as a practice During the Mass and Community Prayers.
We thank sincerely Sr. Deepti DM who served the Archbishops house and is gone on transfer to Pune, and welcome Sr. Emiline DM who has come to replace Sr. Deepti.
The work of new Diocesan Directory 2010 has started; soon you will be approached in connection with it, so please give whole hearted cooperation to the people in-charge to complete the process as early as possible to have a new updated directory.
