Cir.1/12
1st January 2012
Dear Fathers, Brothers & Sisters,
I wish you all a very Happy New Year. I pray, may this New Year be a special year of blessings for all of us
as we celebrate the 125 years of our Archdiocese.I hear of very meaningful celebrations of Christmas and that
churches and institutions were filled with our faithful and even people of other faith. There are many great
experiences as to how Christmas has touched the lives of simple people. The Christmas carols are getting crazy
listeners, and admirers of the Cribs are on the growing steadily. People want to see, listen and experience
something divine. All these speak of the deep devotion of our people. Let us thank the Lord for the growing
spirit of faith of our people. The New Year begins with the feast of Mary Mother of God. We do not fully
understand the importance of Mary in our salvation history. Let us always intercede with her to Jesus.
I thank all of you who participated in the Archdiocesan Christmas Family Gathering and I also thank the organizers.
My sincerest congratulations to the Jesus Youth Nagpur Unit for organizing the Teens 2011 which was a great success.
May their efforts continue to inculcate Christian values among the Teens and the Youth, I pray sincerely.
On 24th of January we celebrate the Feast of St. Frances De Sales, the Patron of our Archdiocese,
as well as many Congregations and institutions. This year the feast gets better attention as we are in
the Jubilee year of the Diocese. St. Frances de Sales is an example for all missionaries, Theologians, formators,
and above all Pastors. He impressed the value of short, straightforward and unadorned sermons, for ‘the more you say,
the less people will remember.’ In order to speak well, we need only to love well.
Let us follow this great Saint in our daily lives. I wish all of you in the Archdiocese a Very Happy Feast on this occasion.
We congratulate Sr. Elizabeth Trinity who was recently elected the Provincial of SMMI Nagpur,
